Colophon
How this site is built.
A portfolio about measured systems should be one. The footer of every page shows that page’s real load time, measured in your browser.
- Static, with no framework at runtime
- Astro renders every page to HTML at build time. There’s no client-side framework, and the only JavaScript on a page is a few small hand-written modules.
- Real engines, off the main thread
- Project pages run the production Epzero WebAssembly build (195 KB) and the Khonsu kernel (461 KB) inside Web Workers, so a search or a parse can’t block scrolling. Each one loads only as you approach it.
- Numbers extracted, not typed
- A script pulls benchmark data from each project’s raw results, and fails if Allfather’s stage counts don’t match its published summaries. The charts and exhibits read that output.
- Motion that stays on the compositor
- Reveals and the reading progress bar use CSS scroll-driven animations, and page changes use cross-document view transitions. Browsers without them show the content immediately, and reduced-motion settings are respected.
- Strict by default
- A strict content security policy allows only this site’s own scripts. Cross-origin isolation gives the engines 5 µs timers, which is what makes their live measurements meaningful.
- Profiled while scrolling
- Lighthouse never scrolls, and it missed a 646 ms freeze in an earlier version of this site. So the site is also profiled by scrolling the real pages and checking for long tasks.
